So I finished school in December. My mom and I discussed it and we thought it would be better for me to keep my apartment because it would be easier to find a job in Toronto than in Cobourg. Ok. Settled. Well, 3 months later I still didn't have a job and I was kicking myself for paying rent on a place that I didn't need to be in. Well last week I got asked to come in for a job interview, which happened yesterday. It's THE job. I'm in love with it. I know I shouldn't have my hopes up because the ratio of interviewees to positions is not good, but I really want it, and as much as I keep trying to push my hopes down, they're hanging out on the 22nd roof deck of my building. They're high. Not CN tower high yet, but maybe my hopes are just lazy and don't want to float the 20 minute walk to the CN tower. Anyways, I digress.. the job:
It's for an Editorial Internship with this online magazine. They just moved in to a new location right downtown Toronto and so it's still a little bare but it's fantastic. I did 3 interviews with the 3 people in the office, the creator, the editor and the web developer man. The first was with the Editor, and she asked me standard interview questions. We bonded over our love of Nylon Magazine and David Dixon. Good times. Ok, second interview was with the creator of the magazine, which I thought I would be panicked about, as I am always panicked at interviews so sit me down with the man who thought up the company, extra nerves. But I don't know if it's because they're all in their late 20s-early 30s or what but they were just so easy to talk to, and super nice. He and I did a reverse interview where I was put on the spot to ask him questions for a set amount of time. It was funny because he told me the interview goes for a set time so if I can't think up questions he'll just stare at me awkwardly. I paused a few times but all in all I think it was ok. This was where he told me there is the possibility of the interns interviewing celebrities, so he wants to know we can handle asking questions. WOAH. Finally I met with the web developer guy. He was so nice. We did a little scenario thing where he asked what I thought about advertising and the site and things. Anyways, the company is in this old town house, and we all talked at the end about how they should decorate with a big black chandelier.
I'm waiting on a call. Not only is this the greatest Internship I could think of for myself, it actually pays, which no Internship does in the world of writing. I don't want to write for a newspaper or follow some strict writing style, so this is perfect. And the creator told me if I get hired as an Intern there's a very high chance that after my 4 month internship I'd be hired on staff.
So back to the apartment thing. I am scheduled to move out the end of April. Life is funny with its timing. I mean, it's a 4 month Internship, so if they called January I could have been there January-end of April, haha, but I suppose we're all part of the cosmic joke, so it didn't work like that. So if I do get it (fingers crossed) I'll be driving to Oshawa and taking the GO train in the morning. But that's ok. I'll do it. This job doesn't really seem like work so I don't see myself dreading the morning commute. It doesn't pay that great so I think I will work 3 weekends a month at my summer housekeeping job at Ste. Anne's, so I will have no life. But I don't care. Its for 4 months.
Anyways, that's all. If I don't get it I will come back on here and talk about how it was so not a big deal and I didn't want it anyways and this entry will be swiftly removed and we'll never speak of this again. Understood?

1. I have been planning my trip to New York City since I was 10 and I first saw "Sleepless in Seattle." And I don't mean just like what I'll do while I'm there, I mean like how to get there, how long it will take to get there, etc.
2. I tell people I want to be a writer... I've never known if this infact were the truth.
3. Having to do with New York City- I'm certain the only way to bring it off the pedestal I have it on, when I finally visit, I will be mugged or something.
4. The joke will be on the mugger, I have no money.
5. I don't care about Valentines Day. I say this and people think it's a bitter single girl thing, but I really don't. I have no desire to mope around for 1 day a year and say "woah is me, I'm single." Though, I must ask, where's the day to celebrate those people who chose not to be with the wrong person? haha.
6. Whenever I drink out of a take out cup with a lid, after I sip I must remove the lid and look in. I don't know what I'm looking for. And oddly, this only applies to pop, not coffee or tea.
7. I have this weird relationship to numbers. For example, my address is 199, this bothers me. I wish it were 189. I like numbers that add together, and I like even number of letters, which is why being Rachel Bowman works out nicely. Yeah, a little OCD.
8. I have no desire to have children. And I have never appreciated the "you'll change your mind" talk people give me when I inform them of this fact.
9. I really put minimal effort in to University. Just enough to pass. I had the most noble of plans to read everything and do all the work at the beginning of every semester, and it never panned out.
10. I have days where I literally dislike everything about myself. Not just my weight or something basic, but literally everything from my hair to hairline to pores to skin to weight, etc. Fortunately, this only happens from time to time.
11. I have visited PEI three times in my life and I generally dislike it. The people are lovely and the place is beautiful, but it's so incredibly dull I don't understand how people love it the way my parents do.
12. I never cry. Seriously. I'm sure this means something worse than it seems.
13. I think I have more wrinkles than i should at 22. Damn smiling.
14. I love to buy high heels but I think they're incredibly uncomfortable. They never discussed this on Sex and the City...
15. On that note, the most exciting thing happening to me this week is my aldo boots being mailed to me, that I really can't afford.
16. I love movies, and I think I could be an actress, but I've never understood how any average looking person made the transition from small town living in like, Iowa, to being a successful hollywood actor..someone needs to write a book.
17. I go to the gym a couple times a week. I hate the gym. I wish I was one of those people that liked it while they were there and who feel accomplished when they leave. I'm only happy because it means another 24 hours til I have to go back.
18. I have lost some weight. While it's nice when people recognize it, it's an awkward discussion, for me, not them. I don't like talking about it, because talking about how much I lost doesn't signal success for me, it just reminds me how much I weighed.
19. If there were a job involving shopping, I want it. I know how flighty and ridiculous it sounds to want to shop for a living, but I really do feel good at it.
20. That does not apply with grocery shopping. I stand in the aisles with this vacant face not knowing what to buy.
21. The more I watch "The View", the more I dislike everyone on it but Barbara and Joy.
22. I still think my childhood dream of being a Ballerina Rockstar is the greatest life plan ever.
23. I shouldn't be allowed to use those online doctor sites where you write in your symptoms and it tells you what's wrong with you. I end up thinking I'm dying, and I believe them.
24. I can't even believe how much money I will soon owe to OSAP, and short of having some "Shopgirl" relationship, I don't think I will ever pay it off.
25. I am afraid of the dark, not like leave a night light on fear. My fear only comes when I am walking down the stairs to the bathroom or something, because I always have this irrational fear that someone is going to come chasing me down the stairs.

I'm reading Nylon Magazine, which I'm not supposed to be, considering I bought it today with the understanding I would hold off reading it til I was on the train tomorrow morning. But I flipped open to a page, and here's what it says "Pretty Woman: Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) flawlessly pulled off the skin-tight, major-chunk-of-fabric-missing look" which is followed by a picture of a girl in thigh high boots, fishnets, a bathing suit with cut out sides and a short neon blue leather skirt. This is then followed by a page of clothes so one can copy this look. Now, I understand fashion magazines don't always show clothes they expect people to wear, but this is a definite "here's the look and here's where to buy it" type of spread. So, here's where I take issue with this. JULIA ROBERTS PLAYED A HOOKER. The outfits she wore were for her role as a HOOKER. Why in the world would a magazine suggest it is fashionable to dress like a 1990 hooker?
By the end of the movie not even Vivian wanted to dress like that. And she was the hooker.
I'm just saying.
It seems weird. Fashionable? I don't know, I'm not really into the whole "I like thigh-high fishnets" thing. But that's just me.
Still love you Nylon.

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random. Step 2: Post the first line of the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from. Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly. Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is cheating. No cheating!
1) don't you worry there my honey, we might not have any money, but we've got our love to pay the bills. 2) I don't want to get up baby let's turn off the phone, I don't want to go to work today or even put my makeup on. 3) I never loved nobody fully, always one foot on the ground. 4) If I could take you away, pretend I was queen, what would you say. 5) on the corner of main street, just trying to keep it in 6) Opened my eyes had a dream last night that both my arms were broken 7) tonight your mine completely, you give your love so sweetly. 8) You and I were two old and tortured souls repaired by a love 9) lonely people, all that we know. 10) I can't seem to face up to the facts I'm tipsy nervous and I can't relax. 11) she's a good girl, loves her mama, loves Jesus and America too. 12) over the sea and far away, she's waiting like an iceberg, waiting to change. 13) you show your age when you drown your rage. 14) I always knew that I liked this place, you don't have to look too far to find a friendly face. 15) Everything you have goes away, you realize that nothing means a thing. 16) some say a troubled boy, just cuz you like to destroy. 17) I've made up my mind, don't need to think it over. 18) Coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine. 19) There ain't no time to let that gun be shot, babe. 20) when you see a deer you see bambi, and I see antlers up on the wall. 21) dream the veins in my head, clean up the reds in my eyes to get by. 22) I will live my life as a lobstermans wife on the island in the blue bay. 23) cryptic words meander, now there is a song beneath the song. 24) do it now, you know who you are. 25) I resist but there's no point in it. 26) I woke up this morning, a funny taste in my head. 27) Lady sings the blues so well as if she means it. 28) I've these dreams I'm walking home, home where it used to be. 29) This is how it works, it feels a little worse 30) woke up this morning, suddenly realized, we're all in this together.
Frankly I didn't know many of these lyrics, so I don't expect others to, as I even had them downloaded on my computer and didn't know them. haha.
